1.My idea behind my tessellation is a coy fish. There is a fin on top and a head on the left side. This gives the look of a fish.
2.I started with a equilateral square. I used two translations, moving up and to the left.
I feel that tessellations are combination of math and art. The math side is that a tessellation starts from a triangle, square, or a hexagon. you can rotate, translate to make the object fit with each other. When the shapes are connected with no gaps the sum total equals 360 that is the reason that it tessellates.
The art piece is the creative aspect. You have the ability to create and see what you want to see. So its a copulation of the two. I believe it both. In the writing by MC Escher he states that, “ that the graphic artist attempts to achieve his purely spiritual aim of a fruitful transfer of thoughts from one person to as many people as as possible...” In this quote I feel that Escher is saying that when you are passionate about something try to show the world. In Escher situation he was passionate about art and math ans thats why I feel that tessellations are a combination
