The rhetoric project was a two part assignment that was an oral and written. The written part could be many different things spawning from letters to editors, essays, op eds , poetry and so forth. The project was about something that you were passionate about and interested you. But with doing so you had to argue that side and why it matters. You needed to demonstrate ethos, logos and pathos. You need these to provide a strong argument and appeal to people. For my written part I wrote a letter to the people of America. I discussed the inequalities and injustices that are occurring in America today. With the oral part of this project I worked with Eli to produce a rap. I discussed the inequalities that are occurring outside our borders and Eli rapped about what is going on with in our country. This project was really interesting and made me question what are we doing for this nation.
This being a rhetoric project my partner and I needed to know our stuff. I think the time we put into our lyrics showed and reflected on what was happening and the change that needs to happen. I think that we made powerful statements. My segment was nearly as powerfully as Eli’s because it had a huge ethos boost. I know being a white male in Durango, I do not see the horrors of racism and inequality. I do want to make change and I think my project demonstrated it.
I think I really connected to this project because of being friends with Eli. Eli has experienced these acts of racism. This outraged me. This is unacceptable and change has to happen. This topic really had and extract level because of what happened to one of my best friends. I discussed this at my POL about the ripple effect and I hope that mine and Eli’s project has that effect, because if you can’t start to make change within your community then how are you supposed to make change globally.
With this project a couple this that I wished we could have changed. First off me being a better rapper. I think that if I could have been better than Eli’s and mine segments could have flown better. Secondly the music. At the the performance the audio was horrible and really made everything sound bad. I think if we could have shared or exported it differently things could have been different. Thirdly more time. Eli and I practiced everyday after school but in the end exhibition is what makes you ready.
Reflecting back on this project I think rhetoric is an extension of oneself. If you want your rhetoric to be effective you need to truly believe in what you are expressing. You can’t just be preaching to the choir and that’s where the difference between good and amazing rhetors differ. Amazing rhetors are looking to change the minds of the world where good rhetors are looking to change the minds of a few. Moving forward I want to take the project as a stepping stone and make the coming projects unique and different. I want to make change with my voice and become a more well spoken young american.

Oral Lyrics
Inequality with the basis of misunderstanding and fear,
Queer that we make rash decisions
That destroy lives
We jump to generalization
Caused by someone's living location
All men are created equal
But somehow only white men break even.
Actions and reactions are based off of terror
Terrorist who use propaganda and devastation
Who prompt an evil horrible unification
Tears are shed on all sides,
except the mighty people of this once great nation
Heads lopped off because of a different gods
Those men are the true frauds
People running from black masks
tasks and tribulations
The next generation will scoff at our lack of cooperation
The cheers and congratulations
Over people being shut out
Waves crushing the fiber of humanity
doing the same thing over and over is the definition of insanity.
so when furer Trump proclaims all muslims must be banned
This great nation must make a stand
We claim to be a nation of freedom
The mighty kingdom
The world sees us a beacon
Walls that break our life and liberty,
bitterly USA the land of immigration now a crumbling civilization.
if we are a great nation…
Queer that we make rash decisions
That destroy lives
We jump to generalization
Caused by someone's living location
All men are created equal
